🥁 Van McCoy – Sweet And Easy…

Born in Washington DC on January 6th, 1940, Van McCoy learned to play the piano at an early age and was singing in the baptist choir from the age of 12. He died of a heart attack aged just 39 on 6th July 1979 (6 months before his 40th birthday).

With 700 song copyrights to his name, he is probably best known for the pop hit The Hustle which charted almost everywhere, he also wrote Sandi Sheldon’s Northern Soul evergreen You’re Gonna Make Me Love You. Go Here

Who was Vivian Maier?

A reclusive photographer who built up a huge library of what we nowadays would call ‘street photography’. If you are interested in photographic composition, mid twentieth century fashion and architecture, you will find this a fascinating film.

🥁 The Detroit Emeralds…

Did you know?

The the Emeralds were originally a four brother band from Arkansas – Ivory, Abrim, Cleophus and Raymond Tilmon. When Cleophus and Raymond left the band, Ivory and Abrim set off for Detroit where they teamed up with James Mitchell, changing their name to The Detroit Emeralds.

Abrim wrote all their hit songs and the band toured worldwide, being very popular in the UK. Feel the Need In Me and You Want It, You Got It were both huge hits the UK with Feel The Need In Me reaching No’4 in the UK charts in 1972.
