The true story of Barbie-Nicole Ponsardin Clicquot. A woman who believed in herself and her ability to create a truly great champagne.
Widowed at 27 years old, she found herself as heir to a vineyard in Reims. In the face of serious fierce opposition from Monsieur Moƫt, she developed not just the vines but also the important process of removing the sediment from champagne during the manufacturing process.
The film gives a great insight into the life and times of France at the turn of the 18th century and the Napoleonic war. As importantly we see the quiet, confident and intelligent woman who battles the uncertainty of weather conditions and SantƩ to madame Clicquot.
