
Born in Washington DC on January 6th, 1940, Van McCoy learned to play the piano at an early age and was singing in the baptist choir from the age of 12. He died of a heart attack aged just 39 on 6th July 1979 (6 months before his 40th birthday).
With 700 song copyrights to his name, he is probably best known for the pop hit The Hustle which charted almost everywhere, he also wrote Sandi Sheldon’s Northern Soul evergreen You’re Gonna Make Me Love You. Go Here
